How to Install a TV Wall Mount (Step‑by‑Step Guide)

Mounting your TV on the wall is one of the easiest ways to clean up your space, improve viewing angles, and create a modern, professional look. This guide walks you through the entire process — tools, steps, safety notes, and pro tips — so you can get a clean, secure installation.

Tools & Materials Needed

• Stud finder

• Level

• Drill + drill bits

• Phillips screwdriver

• Socket wrench

• TV wall mount bracket

• Lag bolts (usually included with mount)

• Painter’s tape

• Pencil

• Optional: in‑wall cable kit

Safety Notes

• Always mount into wood studs, concrete, or masonry — never drywall alone.

• Confirm your mount supports your TV’s weight and VESA pattern.

• If you’re unsure about electrical or in‑wall routing, consult a professional.

Step 1: Locate the Studs

1. Use a stud finder to locate two studs.

2. Mark the center of each stud with a pencil.

3. Use painter’s tape to create a straight visual line.

Pro Tip: Tap the wall lightly — hollow = no stud, solid = stud.

Step 2: Position the Wall Bracket

1. Hold the wall bracket against the wall.

2. Use a level to ensure it’s perfectly straight.

3. Mark the drill hole locations.

Pro Tip: Mount the TV at eye level when seated (typically 42–48 inches to center).

Step 3: Drill Pilot Holes

1. Use a drill bit slightly smaller than your lag bolts.

2. Drill into the stud marks you made earlier.

3. Make sure the holes are straight and centered.

Step 4: Attach the Wall Bracket

1. Align the bracket with your pilot holes.

2. Insert the lag bolts.

3. Tighten using a socket wrench until snug — not over‑tightened.

Step 5: Attach the TV Brackets

1. Lay the TV face‑down on a soft surface.

2. Align the mounting arms with the TV’s VESA holes.

3. Secure using the included screws.

Step 6: Hang the TV on the Wall

1. Lift the TV and hook the brackets onto the wall plate.

2. Ensure both sides lock into place.

3. Adjust tilt or swivel if your mount supports it.

Step 7: Manage Your Cables

Options include:

• Using an in‑wall cable kit for a clean look

• Using surface‑mounted raceways

• Routing cables behind furniture

Final Checks

• TV is level

• Mount is secure

• Cables are hidden

• No wobble or shifting
